Harvest Hoe Down is First Fund-Raising Event for 2010 Dolgeville Violet Festival

October 1, 2009

DOLGEVILLE, NEW YORK — The first fund raising event for the Eleventh Annual Dolgeville Violet Festival will be held October 23, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. at the Dolgeville Fire House on Helmer Avenue. The County Line Rebels will be the featured entertainment for the evening. They are a well-known Mohawk Valley country-western band with an upbeat sound, perfect for round as well as square dancing. Dolgeville’s Mayor Bruce Lyon says “if you’ve never been to the Harvest Hoe Down, it’s something you should try. A lot of the people who come to the event are from out of town, and they have so much fun that they come back year after year” says Lyon.

Tickets are $7.00 per person, or $12.00 per couple. They are on sale at the door or from Violet Festival Committee Members. Refreshments will also be sold by the Violet Festival Committee at the event, with proceeds to benefit the 2010 Violet Festival. For more information about the event, please contact John Rachon at 315-429-5032.

About The Dolgeville Violet Festival

The Violet Festival Committee preserves the historical aspects of the Village of Dolgeville through the use of innovative, artistic, and educational displays throughout the year. There is an emphasis on the communities’ rich horticultural history, which culminates with the annual Dolgeville Violet Festival the 2nd Friday, Saturday and Sunday of June each year. The Festival draws more than 75 vendors, 80 organizations that participate in the parade and over 10,000 people to the Village during the three-day event. Violet Festival Committee meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Dolgeville Fire House. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to attend.
